Day 33 – Almaty city views

IMG_0710

Almaty is a very green city. A great way to see this is from a hill overlooking the city. A short cable car-ride from the centre brought us in minutes to this excellent viewing point and little theme park on top of the hill. Unfortunately it was a bit of a hazy day but it’s great to have the snow-capped mountains of 4000+ meters in your back while overlooking this sprawled out, but very green city.

In the afternoon we had the great opportunity to meet with Mr. Isbrand Ho, Managing Director of BYD Europe, the guy who made this trip happen! It was great to meet each other while we are 1/3 into the trip!

It took 23 years to built but the Almaty metro works excellent!

Rogier found a way to easily lose money; hang longer than 1:40 minutes and you get paid, if you fall off before 1:40 minutes you need to pay. First attempt was 1:30 minute (so close!), second attempt 0:55 (more difficult steel beam) and third attempt 0:50 (same steel beam). Practise makes perfect? ;-)
