Day 24 – still Urumqi

Aday full of emailing, videos editing and an interview at the Urumqi Architectural Design Institute. At this institute we spoke to Mr. Ma about the urban development of Urumqi for the book Maren is writing about ‘Perspectives along the Silk Road: from an urbanizing China to an urbanized Europe’.

The key quality of Urumqi is that you can experience four seasons in one day! Mr. Ma

Hello, we’re Brand New China…

but you can just call us Maren and Rogier, or as the Chinese nicknamed us, 'Big Holland' and 'Small Holland'.

After living in China for many years we decided to leave our daily lives behind and fulfil our dream: driving from China to Holland on the old Silk Road.

Along the way, we want to show you a 'brand new China' by traveling with Chinese brands only and show you the diversity and enthusiasm of the people of the Middle Kingdom.

More about our story
