Day 57 – Tehran

Salaam to the capital of Iran! Tehran, a sprawling metropolis of 15 million people fixed between the majestic Alborz mountains and the hot deserts surrounding the city. This is the big, concrete, chaotic and dynamic beating heart of Iran.

The contrast with Mashhad couldn’t be larger; rather bold fashion statements, ethnic and international restaurants, chic cafes and art galleries are all in the mix.

We have the incredible pleasure to be guided around by our friends from Zam Zam Motors, the local distributor of BYD in Iran. Originally a company founded in Iraq (where they have a 70% market share!) they now spread their wings to Iran. We found it very refreshing to hear stories from these countries from an economic perspective as we don’t hear much about that in western media.

We visited some very interesting sites in Tehran, had the most delicious food at the most incredible places, took photos with our BYD car at the Milad tower and watched the sunset over this bustling metropolis.
