Day 52 – Turkmenistan to Iran

IMG_2075

After having stayed in a nice hotel, with triple times prices for foreigners and the loveliest receptionist – or is it just me being on the road for 52 days? – we continued our journey to Saraghs border checkpoint to be able to cross into Iran.

Everything went smooth on Turkmenistan side and there was a friendly ‘Welcome to Iran’ on the other side but unfortunately the ‘system’ was down in Iran so our passport check took three hours resulting in a delay for the car custom clearance and a closed gate for the night… ‘Tomorrow another day’ we thought and we checked in at a hotel nearby.

We enjoyed a very nice ‘Non Alcoholic Carbonated Malt Beverage’ (our two weeks of non-alcohol body cleansing has begun!) and we are very proud, intrigued and fascinated that we made it to Iran and are absorbing every single moment of it.
